We made a little Sunday trip to Cades Cove a few weeks ago to have a picnic. We took some cheese, crackers, apples and grapes to enjoy. Our picnic was nice aside from the bugs and heat bearing down on us. Then it got cut short by a big ol black bear walking across the other end of the field. We figured it’d be best not to wait around and meet Mr. Bear. So we bolted for the car. Then on our way out via Rich Mountain Road to avoid the traffic…we saw three bear cubs climbing a tree. There were a couple of cars stopped with their passengers out taking pictures of the cubs. As soon as one of them yelled bear cubs to us, Rem rolled up the windows to the car and we stayed put seeing as how Momma Bear was nowhere in sight. We knew better than to think she was not around and we didn’t want to end up as her afternoon snack. Here are some pictures from our outing:
