A Challenge to Share Joy

November 13, 2017 by Kara Leave a Comment

This post is in partnership with Cost Plus World Market, a brand I love. All opinions here are my own.

The holidays are a joyful time of year for me, but it is a very crazy, very stressful season. We always have a lot going on between family gatherings, church gatherings, and now my son’s birthday. My full-time job as a benefits manager also means that 4th quarter at work is a bit like hell. So sharing joy is not a strength for me during the holidays, but I am challenging myself to share joy with as many people as I can this season even when I know they may not be grateful or return the cheer. This, I think, is the hardest part for me. Don’t we all love giving to others, but only when they are truly grateful in return? I know I am guilty of that attitude. So if I am going to share joy with someone else and have it being truly unconditional, then I figured I’d do it anonymously. I have picked out a few things from Cost Plus World Market that brought me Christmas cheer or joy and thought they would bring joy to someone else this season too. The idea is to leave one item anonymously for a coworker, friend, family, or stranger in hopes that it brings them joy this season! I challenge you to share some joy and share it unconditionally!

Before I get to my list of perfect gifts under $15 each to share joy anonymously, I want to share a Watch & Win campaign with you!

Now here is my shopping guide for sharing joy this holiday season for under $15! All of these items brought me a bit of Christmas cheer and I think they are the perfect gifts to bring a bit of that same joy to someone else.

Who doesn’t love a good candle? And Caribbean Coconut will let your boss or a coworker find some joy by dreaming of a trip to a tropical location. This cat mug is just about the happiest thing to drink your morning coffee out of and the perfect gift for my sister who both loves cats. I think it would bring her some joy. These beautiful metal bookmarks made me think of my mom. While the rest of the world has moved on to Kindles and e-readers, she has remained an avid reader of regular hard copy and paperback books. I think she’d love these and they might bring her some joy each time she opens her current novel. We have some foodie friends who have an affinity for coffee and tea just like us, so I know these hammered coffee spoons would bring a little joy to their cup of joe! This little mercury glass vase is just darling. Pop in a bud or two and you’ve definitely got some holiday cheer for someone who loves plants and gardening, like my mother-in-law. My son’s sweet daycare teacher loves all kinds of cute things and I’m pretty sure she would dig the Llama notepad. This Lonely Planet coloring book is pretty freaking awesome and a great surprise for anyone who loves adventure and travel. Finally, everyone loves Nyaker’s ginger snap cookies. They are the perfect way to share some joy. Leave a tin in the break room at your office!

If you want to challenge yourself to share joy anonymously this season with the people in your life, then head to Cost Plus World Market in Knoxville or find the store near you with their store locator where you can shop for the best gifts for her, gifts for him, teacher gifts, and gifts for coworkers. Or just use my guide above for great gifts that will share joy this season for less than $15, meaning there are no excuses!
