Back to our 3-day Disney cruise aboard the Dream for a quick tour of our stateroom – number 5192.
Located completely aft on Deck 5, Stateroom 5192 is a category 6B Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah.
It’s located through a winding hallway past the nursery and children’s area at the very back of the ship. In fact, it’s the very last room on Deck 5. The route to this room can get clogged and crowded with families, so not the easiest location. However, it actually has an extra large, covered verandah!
Sure, the verandah is slightly obstructed, but for the pricepoint of the category, it’s not a bad deal. You get an oversized outdoor hangout with plenty of view!
And it’s right above Fantasia Mickey on the back of the ship! So that’s pretty neat. You also get the benefit of watching the boat pull away from port and the soothing vista of the boat’s wake. In fact, when we arrived in Nassau, we had a great view of the ship backing into port. We also read some complaints about noise at night from being located directly above Evolution – the dance club in the adults only section called The District. However, we never heard or noticed noise from below us during our stay. In fact, our room was actually very quiet due to being so out of the way. Plus it was right across from the laundromat, which was super convenient when I needed to dry my swimsuit and Remington needed to iron a shirt for dinner.
Being at the back of the boat was a surprisingly smooth ride. We did feel more jolts from the throttle and starts/stops, but nothing that disturbed us.
I already described the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah from our previous cruise where we stayed in room 6022, so I won’t go into too much detail because the rooms are essentially identical between the Fantasy and Dream. There is a comfortable sitting area with sofa, ample storage in an ottoman and the desk, and a television featuring Disney on-demand that can be seen from the sofa or bed. The amenities also include a hair dryer, wave phones to use while onboard, a mini fridge, two well-sized closets, a safe and an iPod docking station.
Just like our experience on our last cruise, we both slept like babies on this amazing bed! The mattress is incredibly comfortable and the linens create a perfect dream like experience. Disney features Sealy Posturepedic Premium Plush Euro-top mattresses and Frette 300-thread-count, 100% Egyptian cotton linens on all of their ships.
The same bathroom set up found on the Fantasy that works so well for a cruise ship is also present in the rooms on the Dream. Two separate rooms – one featuring a sink and toilet and one featuring a larger sink and tub/shower combo – are found off the hallway. This works really well for us because we don’t have to share one tiny sink and we can both get ready at the same time. Hallelujah for small miracles like two sinks on a cruise ship! And that tub you can actually move around in and not feel too claustrophobic. The height isn’t great, so really tall people be ware.
One last thing that we love about Disney Cruise Line? The superb quality bath products made available. H2O+ is the brand and they make some great products, but this sea salt and sea marine line for Disney takes the cake. We load up on it as much as we can while on the ship! You can purchase it in the gift shop or order it online too. One disappointment though – they used to provide an actual bath wash instead of just the bath soap bar. I was upset when I saw the change during this cruise because I prefer (as do most I imagine) a bath wash over a bar of soap and I’m not sure why they made the change, but I beg of Disney to bring back the bath wash!
Here are a couple of additional Disney stateroom tips for you:
- The door is magnetic and it’s not uncommon for guests to display their Disney pride in creative ways with magnets.
- The fish to the right or left of your door is directional and tells you where you are on the ship – port or starboard.
- The fish is also used to leave messages about your itinerary such as dinner reservations.
Well, that’s it for this quick Stateroom tour! If you want to see other posts from this Disney cruise and past Disney trips, check them out here.
Until next time! K&R
